Influencers (2025)
Premise: The sequel to Influencer (the previous review, yeah), and I guess the one right before David Fincher films Influencer 3 or, uh, M3Ginfluencer or whatever. Anyhoo! So this is another thriller following the two leads from the previous movie, and once again it is about shooting blood out of y- how sometimes people just need to let things go instead of obsessing over famous instagrammers or whatever. Something like that? Not really uhm.
Under 90 minutes? Nope.
Do they say the title? No, and they definitely toy around saying it so I’m sure they’re just trying to tease me.
First thing I thought of:
Okay, more: Yeah, this one decided to go for both a bit more of bits and blood than the previous one and at the same time it manages to be way more comedic - and it lands on its feet. Very fun, cool movie with some twists that you will see coming (but, honestly, who the hell cares) and some you won’t that will actually make you laugh. Featuring this time an absolute piece of shit alt right influencer and his girlfriend too, and once again some of the cringiest people in the universe. Fun stuff!
A simple way to improve it: If anything I’d say that very very often you can tell the camera is way, way too horny for the lead and it gets to a point where it’s kind of ridiculous. Like I can tell the actress is in on the joke but still. So of course my suggestion would be to please feature way more of the horrible horrible true crime podcasters because goodness gracious I hate true crime podcasters.
