Backrooms (2026)

Premise: This dude who owns the saddest, yellowest non-ikea furniture store in the universe discovers that things could go worse, specially if you decide to noclip out of the real world and into whatever the titular Backrooms are. Based on a creepypasta, boo!

Under 90 minutes? haha, almost two hours somehow, and yet…
Do they say the title? … they never said the title!

First thing I thought of:

backrooms
Okay, more: Eeeeeh yeah, you know how they say “less is more”, or “brevity is the soul of wit” (a lesson your favourite blog never learned, of course)? This movie is that, except almost two hours. The whole backrooms thing (empty-creepy liminal spaces that seem to make less sense the more time you spend there, blabla) can work, but to me it feels like the more you see of them, the less spooooooky they get. So I was kind of bored throughout, even though I was watching this with a couple of friends. Sad trombone.

A simple way to improve it: obviously, Justin Long’s character in Barbarian grabbing the measure tape to check how much he could charge for that extra space!

Trivia about the IMDb trivia:

An extended version, titled Backrooms: Everything Must Go Edition, was released on July 3, 2026, featuring 15 minutes of additional footage.

Yeah, nah, I’m good.
