Disclosure Day (2026)

Premise: Turns out there’s a huge conspiracy to keep the existence of aliens a secret, and knowing this is a Señor Spielbergo joint the question is: is this going to go for the spooky route (War of the Worlds), the sense-of-wonder option (E.T. and Close Encounters) or the we-do-not-talk-about-that-one one (Indy 4)?

Under 90 minutes? Nah, it’s basically two hours and a half long
Do they say the title? Hell yeah, they do!

First thing I thought of:

Okay, more: Yeah, I had a great time with this one. Josh O’Connor does a really good job, for sure, but Emily Blunt definitely steals the show. It’s Señor “Sense-of-Wonder” Spielbergo so thankfully this time you get a lot of people looking in awe at something just slightly off camera, a really positive outlook on things and some optimistic opinions about empathy. Yeah yeah sure sure we all saw how things went with covid so this might be too optimistic, but who cares, I had lots of fun!

A simple way to improve it: geeze, those cgi animals look fake as hell. I bet it couldn’t have been much more expensive to just bring a couple of real raccoons or whatever instead.

To prepare for her alien voice performance, Emily Blunt deliberately rejected AI (artificial intelligence) vocal modifications. She instead went into a sound recording booth to manually perform her character’s alien clicking and guttural babbling sounds. Blunt said she was “terrified of AI,” and was determined to deliver a strictly human vocal performance.

And I’m glad she did, because it does sound really freaky in a good way!
