VHS 94 (2021)
Premise: So VHS Viral was, uh, not good. The proof being that they had filmed three of those in a row, one each year, and even though they must have had a budget of about two peanuts and a piece of string, it must still have done really poorly. Fast forward seven years and boom we have a new movie in the franchise, one that frames itself very deeply in 1994… But did that work?
Under 90 minutes? No! For some reason this one goes over the limit.
Do they say the title? Nah, but we aren’t even counting on it anymore, are we? (I secretly am)
First thing I thought of:
Okay, more: Thankfully this one was better than the last one, here at the Impeccable-Taste HQ we’d go as far as to say “it was a very fun, really dumb ride”. If you’ve watched three of these and this is your fourth rodeo with the series you’ll understand that, yeah, this time even the weakest of the shorts is still really fun, and the best one is really cool. A good time was had by all!
Also, the leader of the group in the last short looks surprisingly like Lolo from Leyendas Legendarias, geez.
A simple way to improve it: The short set in Indonesia was very fun BUT it really could have been a lot shorter without losing literally anything.
Trivia about the IMDb trivia:
The amateur sketch of “the Ratman” is a reference to the amateur sketch of a leprechaun sighting in Alabama circa March 16th 2007.
I searched and I was super happy to learn that the “chrichton leprechaun” is a thing and that this was the sketch they proudly had on TV. This, my friends, is what the IMDb trivia section should be all about:
